Plan ahead and then stick to the plan.
Parties and gatherings are fun— but the temptation to eat unhealthy is not so fun. You can still party like a boss and stay on track with your health goals when you create a s plan. The key is know what you’re going to eat before you show up to the party. Make a choice of what you will and will not be eating— then stay strong.
Breath and be full aware of your emotions.
It’s time to changer your inner meditation guru. Emotions can play a huge role in what you eat. When a craving hits, try taking a few deep breaths, clear your mind and get clear on your nutrition goals. Focus on your inhales and exhales. Feel the calmness it brings and let your attention move towards your goals— rather than the craving. Once you’re calm and clear, ask yourself if the craving is something you’re willing to indulge. If it isn’t, then make a mindful choice to let it go.
By the way, you can use this practice on any occasion a craving hits.
Add more healthy options to your plate.
This may sound obvious, but how many parties have you attended that the chip bowl is completely empty and the poor vegetable platter is untouched. Fresh veggies are not only healthy and delicious, but they add a much needed colorful crunch to your plate. Try filling up your plate with lots of fresh ingredients that will satisfy your need to “fill your plate”. Your body will thank you for all the wonderfully healthy foods that will actually fuel your body.
