I used to be a major people pleaser. A yes girl.
To be honest, conflict makes me nauseous, my stomach burn, my muscles tense, and my pulse race. SOUL DRAMA ALWAYS LEADS TO BODY TRAUMA
I used to be plagued by anxiety to the point of hives, overthinking, over-analyzing, and worrying if I made someone mad ???? at me.
Truly, it stems from a good heart. I just wanted others to feel happy, comfortable, and comforted when you’re around me— but the burden of trying to make others happy is a heavy one —and it’s actually not ours to carry in the first place.
But can I be honest about all this people pleasing?
Being a people pleaser— whether it’s your family, your kids, your significant other, your teachers, your pastors, or any rando is DRAMA FOR YOUR SOUL! ????
It is emotionally unhealthy and lot of work, all this people pleasing. Usually, people who suffer from this people pleasing pandemic, put their own personal and family’s needs last. I know, I lived this.
My personal people pleasing is what lead me to gaining over 100 pounds in just a year from stress eating. It’s also caused my immune system to fail, which lead to autoimmune disorders. It then lead to a tidal wave of physical damage including type 2 diabetes, thyroid disorder, chronic pain and inflammation in my body.
I will say it again for the people in the back, SOUL DRAMA ALWAYS LEADS TO BODY TRAUMA.
They are often too exhausted to do anything positive and healthy for themselves— like workout, cook a healthy dinner, go for a walk in the park, play with their dog, play a game with their kids, start their dream job, write their own story and the list goes on… Often, a people pleaser loses their own happiness, dreams, goals and voice to others.
They are fearful to take risks.
They don’t start new goals.
They don’t chase their dreams.
They walk on eggshells and hide their true identity for worry of offending someone.
This is TOXIC!
But here’s the truth. The beautiful truth.
God did NOT create us to please others. He calls us to love others and that pleases Him. That’s our job.
Loving others often looks differently pleasing others. Sometimes it’s saying NO. Other times is standing your ground, doing what is best for you, investing your time, attention and energy in what makes you happy.
It’s being courageous enough to fight for your joy, your peace, your health, your dreams, your goals, and your happiness. By doing so, you also stand in as the advocate for your family as well.
I share all this to say when you let go of all the people pleading and you will feel the weight lift off your shoulders. Your energy will return. Your mood will shift. Your body will transform… And you my friend, will finally be SET FREE.
When I let go of the people pleasing, my body also let go of weight and began to heal. Heal your soul and you will also heal your body. If I can let go of the people pleasing, so can you.
Stay free,
Christina ????????????
